Justine Gagnon, BSN, RN, CPN, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland in 2013, joined the Children’s National team as a nurse intern in 2012, and then begun her nursing career as a staff nurse in the Nurse Residency Program on the Surgical Care Unit in 2013. As a staff nurse on the Surgical Care Unit she earned her certification in Pediatric Nursing and was first introduced to the colorectal patient population. In 2018, Justine transitioned into a leadership role as a Shift Coordinator on the Surgical Care Unit. She now serves as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for Colorectal & Pelvic Reconstruction at Children’s National. Justine is excited for the opportunity to improve care for pediatric colorectal patients in our nation’s capital and around the world.

Meghan Mesa, BSN, RN, CPN, has been a nurse at Children's National Hospital for 14 years, and is a Certified Pediatric Nurse. She graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing in 2006. After graduation,Meghan began her career as a staff nurse at Children's National caring for post-operative surgical patients in the nurse residency program. In 2016, she transitioned to the Clinical Instructor position on the inpatient Surgical Care Unit where she remained until joining the Colorectal Center program in 2019 as one of our Clinical Nurse Coordinators. Meghan is excited to be a valuable part of the collaborative team and is passionate about caring for children with colorectal conditions.

Janel Talley, MSN, RN, CPN, serves as a nurse clinical coordinator for the Division of Colorectal & Pelvic Reconstruction. Janel obtained her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Walden University. She has been here at Children's National for over 20 years and is a certified pediatric nurse. Her previous nursing experience includes serving as a registered nurse, shift coordinator and professional practice specialist, all at Children’s National Hospital. She is a member of the Society of Pediatric Nurses.

Julie Choueiki was recruited to build and serve the Division of Colorectal & Pelvic Reconstruction at Children’s National Hospital. Julie's expertise in program management and strategy poised her to develop a collaborative center in the nation’s capital, treating and serving children from all over the United States and beyond.
Julie completed a masters of science in nursing administration at the University of Cincinnati. She worked as a trauma, critical care and emergency department nurse, nurse educator, informatics educator and professional development nurse specialist. In her personal time, Julie enjoys traveling the world, hiking and spending time with her family.
