Pharmacy and Gift Shop
The Walgreens pharmacy on the first floor of our main hospital has trained pharmacists and pharmacy technicians available to serve our patients, families and employees. The following services are provided by the pharmacy:
- Medication consultations
- Medication dispensing
- Outpatient pharmacy retail services (including non-sterile compounding)
- Administration of CDC-approved vaccinations for children 12 and older (available only for customers who are not patients at Children’s National)
Children’s National physicians can e-prescribe to the hospital’s Walgreens, allowing families to pick up a patient’s prescriptions upon discharge, saving families an additional trip and getting them home faster.
The pharmacy also has toiletries, cards, toys, specialty equipment (such as breast pumps via a unique partnership with a local breastfeeding expert), and healthy snacks and beverages.
Gift Deliveries for Patients and Families
If you would like to deliver an item for a loved one (i.e. flowers, balloons, gift baskets), they must be purchased through an external delivery vendor. The purchaser must indicate patient’s name and room number on the item to ensure delivery. Please note, balloons and other items must be latex-free as Children’s National Hospital is a latex-free environment. Cards for patients may be mailed to the Children’s National Hospital main address and must include the patient’s name and room number.
COVID-19 Vaccine at the Walgreens Pharmacy
The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is available for any eligible individuals. The pharmacy will offer 40 vaccinations per day on weekdays and 20 vaccinations per day on weekends. Appointments can be made here.
