The Division of Infectious Diseases at Children's National Hospital consists of ten general pediatric infectious diseases physicians, including individuals who focus on transplant infectious diseases, HIV, Cystic Fibrosis and antimicrobial stewardship. Fellows also work closely with the following individuals:

  • Faculty and staff of the Children's National Infectious Disease Fellowship Program.Natella Rakhmanina, M.D., AAHIVSKathleen Ferrer, M.D. and Lorato Anderson, M.D., who focus primarily on HIV-related care and research.
  • Rachel Falik, DNP, a pediatric nurse practitioner in the division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
  • Microbiology Laboratory Director, Joseph Campos, Ph.D., and Microbiology Laboratory Assistant Director, Benjamin Liu, Ph.D.
  • Pediatric infectious diseases/ASP clinical pharmacy specialists, Aimee Dassner, Pharm.D., BCIDP and Esther Esadah, Pharm.D., M.S.
  • Chief of Infection Prevention, Xiaoyan Song, Ph.D., M.B.B.S, M.Sc., and a team of infection preventionists.
  • The division’s staff assistants: Shenaye Matthews, M.B.A. our fellowship program coordinator, and Mehalia Brown, B.A. our operations coordinator. 
  • Emily Ansusinha, M.S., and Monika Geslak, the research coordinators for the division.
  • Additional faculty participate with the FDA Tracks program, including Yodit Belew, M.D., who oversees training at the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), and Mark Connelly, M.D., who oversees training at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER).
