Our residents receive many benefits that allow them to take advantage of special educational events and conferences, bond with one another and enjoy living in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. - PL-1 $78,911

Additional Financial Benefits
- New resident relocation bonus: $1,300 for PL-1s
- Transportation Stipend: $500 per academic year intended to cover the cost of transportation home from work if too tired to drive or transportation between work sites
- Reimbursement for lab coats and scrubs: $150 per academic year
- 401K: Up to 15% of salary; CNH matches up to 5% of salary for PL-2s and PL-3s
- Discounted hospital on-site parking
- Group life insurance, health insurance, dental plan and vision plan
- Coverage for spouses and parental leave (both applicable to same and opposite sex spouses/ parents)
Educational Stipend
- PL1: $1,500
- PL2: $2,500
- PL3: $3,500
End-of-Training Expenses
- ABP General Pediatrics Certifying Exam fee reimbursement: full cost (currently: $2,265)
- Unrestricted state licensure at end of training and DEA Reimbursement: Full cost (typically $1,500-2,500)
Additional Educational Benefits
- USMLE Step 3/COMLEX Level 3 Exam fee reimbursement: full cost (currently $915)
- Training licensure fee reimbursement: Full cost (currently $100-$150 annually)
- AAP membership: $160 annually
Wellness Benefits
Free Opt-Out Residency Psychologist Program
Residents are offered free individual psychology visits with our residency program psychologist, who is familiar with the personal and professional challenges of residency.
Employee Assistance Program
All Children’s National Hospital employees can talk confidentially with a behavioral health professional about a wide range of personal matters in a confidential manner at no cost.
George Washington Psychiatry
Residents have access to five free and confidential sessions with GW psychiatrists. Appointments are flexible and designed to fit a resident’s busy schedule.
Peer Support Program
All Children’s National Hospital employees can initiate a peer support referral for themselves or for someone else if they have experienced emotional trauma or stress related to their clinical roles.
Scheduled Debriefs for Each Inpatient Rotation
Additional debriefs for teams and individuals are also arranged on an as-needed basis.
