NBC4 Looks at Magnetic Rod Surgery at Children's National
NBC Washington looks at how Children’s National Health System is using the MAGEC growing rod to help children with scoliosis experience less surgeries and less pain. Doctors implant a rod that can be magnetically adjusted instead of surgically. Orthopaedic surgeon Shannon Kelly, MD, says the new system is so much easier on children because for the old rods frequent surgeries meant a higher risk of infection.
