Prince George's County School-Based Health Centers
Who Can Participate?
PG County School-Based Health Centers are only available to Prince George's County Public Schools students.
School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) make it easier for your child to get the care they need—right at school. These on-campus health clinics are located in certain Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) and are run by licensed Children's National medical professionals who can provide checkups, treat common illnesses and offer support when your child isn’t feeling well.
Each SBHC also offers social and mental health services, along with health education to students. SBHC team members also provide referrals to specialty care and community providers.
With care available during the school day (and even through telehealth when needed), SBHCs help caregivers avoid missing work, reduce students' time away from class and ensure students stay healthy, supported and ready to learn. SBHCs make it easier for students to receive timely care by partnering with families and primary care providers.

Services include, but are not limited to:
- Annual well child/adolescent visits
- Sick and urgent care
- Immunizations
- Chronic disease management (e.g., Asthma)
- Sports physicals
- Nutrition counseling
- Behavioral and mental health services
- Family planning, including contraceptive counseling and administration
- Pregnancy testing
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing and treatment
- Substance abuse concerns
Parental Consent
Parental consent may not be needed for a minor to receive certain confidential services at an SBHC. Confidential services include, but are not limited to:
- Family planning, including contraceptive counseling and administration
- Mental health concerns
- Pregnancy testing
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing and treatment
- Substance abuse concerns
