During the first 5 weeks of the residency, residents will become acclimated to the pharmacy department and the hospital. The goal of the orientation period is to prepare the resident for staffing in the oncology satellite and set the groundwork for a successful year. The resident will rotate through all of the areas of the pharmacy department, with a focus on oncology. Residents will be trained by pharmacists and technicians in order to gain a complete view of pharmacy operations. Training modules, competencies, policies and procedures are given to the resident at the beginning of orientation to guide the resident through training.
