Let’s come together to prevent sudden death. Children’s National invites you to attend a collaborative conference to prevent Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes (SADS). This dynamic half-day session will bring together providers from throughout the region to foster conversation, share knowledge and grow awareness of SADS.
The Cardiogenetics Symposium is a free, interactive symposium for adult and pediatric providers to raise awareness and understanding of inherited arrhythmias and prevention of sudden death. It offers a multi-disciplinary, family-centered approach to recognizing and caring for inherited arrhythmia syndromes. Lunch will be provided.
Topics to be covered:
- SADS myths
- Review of the epidemiology and warning signs
- Review of SADS conditions - LQTS, ARVC, Brugada, CPVT and others
- Treatments for inherited arrhythmia syndromes
- Genetic testing and counseling in 2018
- Inherited arrhythmia clinics and family screening
- Busting the myths
- What would you do? Open Q&A and submitted case discussions w/ expert panel
We invite you to submit a case study of a patient/family with an inherited arrhythmia (IA) or suspected IA. Your case will be presented and discussed by our expert panel. Case studies should be emailed to Libby Sherwin, M.D. by April 1, 2018. Please be sure all patient identifiers are removed.
Children's National Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Approximately 4 contact hours will be awarded for participation in this symposium.
