April 2026 Pediatric Partner Update

Greetings from Dr. DiFazio
This month we have several resources for you including recommendations on caring for patients with constipation and a webinar for caregivers on how to reduce mealtime stress. Our annual survey for referring providers comes out next month. We look forward to learning how we can better partner with you for care. We greatly value your opinions and ongoing partnership. Kids Are Our Everything.

What You Need to Know

We Value Your Opinion
Please look for an upcoming survey to help us better understand your experience referring patients to Children’s National so we can better partner with you for your patients’ care.

Functional Constipation Care
Constipation is common and often under-treated. When diet and over-the-counter therapies aren’t enough, the colorectal team at Children's National offers advanced diagnostics to identify underlying causes and deliver targeted treatment options.

Unsedated Transnasal Endoscopy
Children’s National is the only hospital in the region offering an unsedated transnasal endoscopy to pediatric patients. Providers insert an endoscope through the patient’s nose to examine their mouth, esophagus or stomach. The procedure requires local anesthesia instead of sedatives, which helps the child recover faster.

Emergency Care
When your patients need emergency care, refer them to the Children’s National Emergency Department with the confidence that they will be evaluated by a pediatric emergency medicine specialist. Our Fast Track Unit within the ED is open 24/7 for urgent conditions.

Trusted Pediatric Pharmacy
Children’s National Specialty Pharmacy exclusively serves pediatric patients in our region. It supports specialty and everyday medications, offers onsite compounding and helps with prior authorizations and financial assistance. It is ACHC- and URAC-accredited and offers free delivery or Silver Spring, MD, pickup.

Autism Research Studies
The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders conducts a variety of studies researching factors associated with autism. We are currently enrolling in three studies, and each includes compensation. Invite patients to participate today.
