Andrew Dauber, MD, MMSc, named director of the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics Research at Children's National

Children's National named Andrew Dauber, MD, MMSc, director of the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics Research. Dr. Dauber will continue serving as chief of Endocrinology while leading the center’s work to advance genomic discovery, translational science and precision medicine research for children with common and rare diseases.

“I am honored to lead the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics Research at such an exciting moment for pediatric medicine,” Dr. Dauber said. “The convergence of genomics, advanced analytics and clinical innovation is creating unprecedented opportunities to better understand disease and deliver more personalized care for children. I look forward to working with colleagues across Children’s National and around the world to advance discoveries that improve the lives of patients and families.”

Since joining Children’s National in 2018, Dr. Dauber has helped expand the organization’s precision medicine and genomics capabilities. His research focuses on identifying the genetic causes of growth and endocrine disorders and translating those discoveries into new approaches for diagnosis and treatment. He has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications and led federally- and industry-funded research initiatives focused on rare diseases and genomic discovery.

The center brings together an interdisciplinary faculty, with nearly half of its physician-scientists coming from clinical divisions across Children’s National. The center addresses pediatric health challenges in Washington, D.C., while serving as an international referral destination for rare and complex disorders.

The center provides investigators access to advanced technologies in genomics, microscopy, bioinformatics and drug development, supporting research across Children’s National and beyond through National Institutes of Health-supported core resources. Researchers use interdisciplinary data to generate insights into human health and disease and develop more personalized approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
