Percival Kane, Jr., MHA, named Chief of Operations for Children’s National Hospital

Children’s National Hospital has named Percival Kane, Jr., MHA, as its new senior vice president and chief of operations. In this role, Kane will help advance the long-term vision of Children’s National and oversee the execution of operational and strategic priorities with a focus on delivering the highest standards of safe, quality pediatric care.  

“Percival brings a proven ability to strengthen operations while keeping patients and families at the center of every decision. He is a key addition to our leadership team,” said Michelle Riley-Brown, MHA, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Children’s National. “I’m excited for the collaboration and focus he will bring as we continue advancing our mission for children.” 

Kane joins Children’s National from University Hospitals (UH) Ahuja Medical Center, where he served as chief operating officer since 2022. As a seasoned executive with a proven track record, he brings over 15 years of experience in healthcare operations, driving hospital performance, optimizing patient flow and leading complex expansion efforts.

Prior to joining UH Ahuja, Kane served as chief operating officer at Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital, where he led key improvements in operational efficiency, inpatient and surgical volume and emergency department throughput. He also helped advance overall care delivery by implementing cross-functional strategies that strengthened clinical integration and quality outcomes. 

He earned his Master of Health Administration from Saint Louis University School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Administration from Dillard University in New Orleans.  

He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the National Association of Health Service Executives (NAHSE) and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). He also holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, underscoring his commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
