Percival I. Kane, Jr., MHA, is the senior vice president and chief of operations at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he plays a critical role in advancing the hospital’s long-term strategic vision and operational excellence. In this role, Kane oversees the execution of key priorities with a strong focus on delivering safe, high-quality pediatric care, enhancing patient and family experiences, and driving innovation across the system.

A seasoned healthcare executive with over 25 years of experience, Kane has built a distinguished career leading hospital operations, managing complex expansion projects, and optimizing clinical and administrative performance. He joined Children’s National in September 2025 from University Hospitals (UH) Ahuja Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served as chief operating officer.

At UH Ahuja, Kane was instrumental in enhancing the hospital’s clinical quality, safety and patient experience. He successfully led a $236.1 million hospital expansion project, completed in June 2023, which introduced new services such as labor and delivery, a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the largest sports rehab complex in northeast Ohio, a comprehensive breast health center and an expanded emergency department. The project also generated hundreds of new jobs and significantly boosted the hospital’s presence in the region.

Before his tenure at UH Ahuja, Kane served as chief operating officer at Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital, a 269-bed acute care facility. There, he led efforts that increased admissions, surgical volume and emergency department throughput, while also supporting operating room optimization and driving high employee engagement during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier in his career, Kane was the chief ambulatory officer and senior vice president of the Physician Network at North Oaks Health System in Louisiana, where he played a vital role in strategic operations and growth.

Kane earned a Master of Health Administration from Saint Louis University School of Public Health and a bachelor’s degree in public health administration from Dillard University in New Orleans. He is pursuing a doctorate in business administration at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He also holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

An active community and professional leader, Kane is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the National Association of Health Service Executives and the Medical Group Management Association. He serves on the board of directors for Hathaway Brown School and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
