Engagement of Prehospital Agencies with Pediatric Education

DC EMSC has regularly conducted outreach and education to local and regional 911 EMS agencies before, during and since the pandemic. The EMSC team conducts in-person education and simulation to review pediatric EMS skills such as resuscitation, airway management, CPR, medication dosing, vascular access, and endotracheal intubation/tracheostomy emergencies. The EMSC team has also organized and executed two free prehospital full-day pediatric conferences, including lectures from experts in the field and hands-on skills stations.

Serving the DMV with Pediatric Prehospital Education Series

DC EMSC has facilitated, organized and executed a monthly free virtual education series that is open to all EMS clinicians. The sessions include relevant evidence-based pediatric topics. The EMSC team takes a regional approach to education in extending the audience for these sessions beyond the borders of the District. The sessions currently offer continuing education credits to EMS clinicians in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV).

For prehospital/EMS clinicians, we invite you to attend our free virtual Prehospital Pediatric Education Series, held from 10-11 a.m. on the 4th Wednesday of the month from January through October. Expanding Access to Pediatric Simulation Training for EDs

The DC EMSC team is launching an educational program to provide free pediatric high-fidelity simulation on-site at emergency departments in the District of Columbia. The program will enable clinical teams to practice pediatric assessment, skills and equipment use in a safe environment to learn more about their strengths and any opportunities for improvement in pediatric emergency care. The curriculum is based on the Joint Policy Statement and Checklist that can be found in our Resources.
