At Children’s National, we understand that families have many questions about their child’s condition and care. In addition to any resources your provider may give you, our online resources can also support your ongoing treatment journey.

Breath Testing Options
Our program offers hydrogen breath testing, which can identify conditions such as lactose intolerance and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). There are two ways families can obtain breath testing for their child:
- Kits mailed to the patient's home for those who aren't local to Washington, D.C.
- Testing in our clinic at Children's National Hospital main campus (a newly-offered option)
Patients will need to be seen by a gastroenterology (GI) provider at Children’s National for this testing to be done. Currently, we only test on Children’s National GI patients who have an order from one of our GI providers.
