Children’s National named Proud Pediatric Partner of the Washington Spirit

Children’s National today announced a new multi-year partnership with the Washington Spirit becoming a Proud Pediatric Partner in a collaboration focused on advancing children’s health, strengthening community connections and inspiring the next generation through the power of women’s sports.

The partnership reflects both organizations’ shared commitment to supporting children and families across the Washington, D.C., region while elevating women’s sports and promoting healthy, active lifestyles. Throughout the partnership, Children’s National and the Washington Spirit will collaborate on community initiatives, patient experiences, player hospital visits and family-focused events that create meaningful connections beyond the soccer field.

“It’s exciting to be a Proud Pediatric Partner. This collaboration brings together our shared dedication to helping children thrive, supporting families and creating stronger, healthier communities,” said Michelle Riley-Brown, MHA, FACHE, president and CEO of Children’s National. “By combining the reach and inspiration of women’s sports with our mission to advance pediatric health, we have an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people throughout our region.”

The partnership officially kicks off on August 2, when Children’s National will serve as a supporting partner of the Spirit’s Cancer Awareness match against San Diego Wave FC at Audi Field in Washington. The match will welcome Children’s National patients, families and pediatric cancer survivors for a special day of celebration and recognition. As part of the match day experience, a group of Children’s National patients will ring the bell at halftime and one Children’s National cancer patient will serve as the game’s honorary captain, participating in the ceremonial pregame coin toss and walking onto the field with the Washington Spirit during player introductions.

"Our community is incredibly important to us, so partnering with an organization that has been there for so many kids and families in the DMV is a fantastic opportunity," said Washington Spirit CEO Kim Stone. "Children's National is the perfect partner to help us turn our platform into real impact for the next generation, exactly the kind of relationship our organization wants to build.”

During the season, Children’s National will execute a strategic marketing campaign, leveraging in-stadium branding and digital signage at Audi Field, game day experiences, community initiatives and special player visits – all focused on enhancing children’s health and well-being.
