Nicholas "Nick" Mendyka, MSHA
Nicholas "Nick" Mendyka, MSHA, serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Children’s National, where he oversees the system’s finance, strategy and business development functions. He is responsible for advancing financial performance and operational excellence while ensuring that strategic plans, growth initiatives, partnerships and capital investments are mission-aligned, financially sound and positioned to deliver long-term value.
Mendyka brings broad healthcare finance leadership experience across academic medical centers, integrated delivery systems and payer organizations. Prior to joining Children’s National, he served as senior vice president of enterprise financial operations at Jefferson Health, where he led financial operations for a $12 billion enterprise and advanced long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial controls and performance improvement. He previously held senior finance leadership roles at Allina Health and the University of Virginia Health System, where he guided systemwide financial operations, strategic investments, capital planning, revenue cycle initiatives and enterprise data governance.
A systems-minded and transformational leader, Mendyka has helped organizations strengthen financial stewardship, improve operational performance and support growth through major initiatives including post-merger integration, enterprise capital management, shared services development, ERP implementation, revenue cycle transformation and business partnership planning.
Mendyka earned a Master of Science in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Arts in Health Communication from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
