Rose Plessinger
Rose Plessinger, MSN, RN, embodies a commitment that transcends distance. Her approximately 100-mile daily commute from South Central, Pennsylvania, to Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. (and Rockville and Prince George's County), is fueled by her dedication to providing the best care possible. Inspired by her child's experience in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Rose embarked on her journey with Children's National in 2006 as a new graduate. She recalls, "When I walked through the doors, I just knew it was the place I wanted to be."

In her role, Rose manages the Children's National Ambulatory Surgery Center and Nursing for the Children's Imaging Center in Montgomery County, and the newly opened Children's National Ambulatory Surgery Center in Prince George's County. She finds immense reward in witnessing the laughter and smiles of the children she serves and their youthful innocence as they run and play in the hallways. Moments like these, along with watching the children decorating their surgical masks and choosing their favorite scents to help hide the smell of the anesthesia gases, ignite her passion. Rose also has a passion for teaching staff, patients and families about preventative health and self-care for the well-being of her team and her patients.

Rose's career at Children's National spans various roles, experiences and facilities. She says what keeps her here is that “...there is always opportunity to learn and grow if you want to. Working at Children’s you will learn from the best of the best. I can then take what I learn and teach others.”

She now embarks on a new adventure as the Children's National Prince George’s Ambulatory Surgery Center opens its doors, bringing accessible outpatient surgeries to families. The center's education-focused approach provides patients and families with both pre-surgical and post-surgical education from a large variety of surgical specialties. This helps prepare the child for the best experience possible and gives them the information they need to continue to heal at home. Prince George’s ASC operating rooms supporting surgical specialists such as urology, GI, general, plastics, dermatology, ENT, ophthalmology and orthopedics in the future.
