How Children’s National Hospital Waitlists Work

  • When scheduling an appointment by phone, you will be asked if you want to join the waitlist. This means you may be offered an earlier appointment if one becomes available.
  • You will receive a text message to opt-in to the waitlist. You must respond to this message to join the waitlist for this appointment.
  • If a sooner appointment becomes available, a text will be sent to a group of patients on the waitlist.
  • Please note that the offered appointment might be with another provider or at a different location.
  • The first family to accept the new appointment will be rescheduled to the new appointment.
  • If you get the new appointment, you will receive a confirmation text and your original appointment will no longer be available.
  • If you do not get the new appointment, you will keep your original appointment and remain on the waitlist. You may opt-out of the waitlist at any time.
