When to refer a child to Sleep Medicine:

  • Children who have tonsillar hypertrophy and snoring and need to be evaluated for possible obstructive sleep apnea may be referred directly to the sleep laboratory.
  • All other patients should be evaluated in the Pediatric Sleep Disorders Program or the Pediatric Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program.
  • Children with insomnia as the major complaint should be referred to the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program.
