Curriculum
The Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship consists of several experiences, including core lecture series, conferences and didactics. The core lecture series orients fellows to specific pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of symptoms. Fellows will also be introduced to expressive and supportive care teams, such as music therapy, art therapy, child life, spiritual care, social workers, etc.
Conferences
Ongoing didactics are with inpatient consult service, inpatient and home hospice, pain team, long-term care facility, elective and education time.
Board Review Preparation Course
Occurs in the spring with local fellowship programs, led by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Journal Club
With palliative care team.
Didactic Lectures
With adult hospice and palliative care fellows.
Research
A quality improvement project is required to be completed during this one-year fellowship.
