The Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship at Children’s National Hospital is affiliated with The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Its mission is to provide fellows with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to become outstanding pediatric anesthesiologists.
This one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship includes training in all subspecialty areas: cardiac anesthesiology, neuroanesthesia, regional anesthesia, pain medicine, critical care medicine, with exposure to neonatology and emergency medicine.
The Division of Anesthesiology, Pain and Perioperative Medicine at Children’s National provides comprehensive clinical anesthesia services for infants and children undergoing a full range of surgical procedures for congenital heart disease, heart transplantation, craniofacial malformations, laryngotracheal abnormalities and neonatal emergencies. As trainees in the program, fellows actively participate and learn from these cases.
The eight Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship positions will be filled through the NRMP Match.
Outside the operating room, fellows participate in patient care in Radiology and Oncology, as well as the Preoperative Care and Chronic Pain Clinics. Didactics and other instructional activities such as simulation, round-table discussions, workshops, journal clubs, and one-on-one teaching are integral to the daily experience.
