Preparing for Your Visit

Provider using otoscope on patient

You will meet with multiple specialists, so please prepare your child for a lengthier visit. We recommend bringing some form of entertainment for your child.

We ask that all patients hold any antihistamines for five days prior to the visit. This includes:

  • Allegra (Fexofenadine)
  • Atarax (Hydroxyzine)
  • Benadryl (Diphenhydramine)
  • Claritin (Loratadine)
  • Zyrtec (Cetirizine)

All other medications including nasal sprays, inhalers and acid reducing medications may be continued.

If you have been seen by an allergist or gastroenterologist outside of Children's National Hospital, please bring all test and/or endoscopy results with you to the appointment.
