Biography

Roopa Kanakatti Shankar, M.D., M.S., is a pediatric endocrinologist at Children’s National Hospital and an associate professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Shankar specializes in working with children with Turner syndrome (TS). She leads the multidisciplinary Turner Syndrome Clinic, which is 1 of only 9 centers nationally and the only center in Washington, D.C., to be recognized by the Turner Syndrome Global Alliance (TSGA) for providing excellent care to individuals with TS and increasing knowledge about TS through research.

Dr. Shankar holds board certifications in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology, is the recipient of several honors, grants and awards, and is an active member of the Endocrine Society and the Pediatric Endocrine Society, including the Turner syndrome special interest group.
