Kelly Lyons, CPNP-AC/PC, is a pediatric nurse practitioner with the Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program at Children's National Hospital. Kelly completed her undergraduate nursing education at the University of Florida. She went on to practice hematology/oncology/BMT nursing for more than seven years at the University of Florida Medical Center and at Children’s National. Kelly earned a master's degree as an advanced practice nurse practitioner, dual-certified in acute and primary pediatric care, from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Kelly’s capstone graduate research involved reducing central line associated blood stream infections through optimizing oral mucositis care for immunocompromised children.
Kelly’s clinical interests are long-term follow up of pediatric bone marrow transplant recipients and ensuring quality care through evidence based nursing projects. She is also focused on the care of patients with sickle cell disease, immunodeficiencies and other blood disorders undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant.
