Jennifer Verbesey, M.D., is the surgical director of Pediatric Kidney Transplantation at Children’s National Hospital. Dr. Verbesey attended Harvard Medical School, then completed general surgery training and a transplant surgery fellowship at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Massachusetts. Currently, Dr. Verbesey is an attending transplant surgeon at the MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute, where she is the director of the Living Donor Kidney Transplant Program. She is also involved with all aspects of kidney transplantation at Children’s National including preoperative evaluations, surgery, and postoperative care. She has extensive experience in pediatric and adult kidney transplantation, in addition to donor laparoscopic nephrectomies.

Dr. Verbesey is very committed to the growth of the kidney transplant program at Children’s National. With her exceptional guidance, we have expanded our living donor program. In 2012, our center performed nine transplants including three living donors. In 2016, we performed 21 transplants including 12 living donors. These numbers make us one of the busiest pediatric programs on the East Coast.
