Chinwe Unegbu, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Anesthesiology, Sedation, and Perioperative Medicine at Children’s National Hospital with an expertise in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia. She also has an adjunct appointment of Assistant Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in the Department of Pediatrics. She completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University in the College of Arts and Sciences in 2002. She received her M.D. degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2006 and completed her residency in anesthesiology in 2010. During residency she affirmed her passion for pediatric anesthesiology and went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins in 2011 and advanced training in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology in 2012. She is currently practicing as a pediatric anesthesiologist for kids with both cardiac and non-cardiac anomalies. She is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, the Society of Pediatric Anesthesiology, and the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society. She enjoys working closely with the medical students, residents, and fellows. Her current research interests include perioperative management of pediatric patients with pulmonary hypertension. She lives in Washington, DC and when not working enjoys trying some of the great restaurants that D.C. has to offer.
