Carla Sguigna, M.D., was born in New York, where she grew up and later lived in England. She returned to the U.S. for her education and training, graduating from Harvard Medical School in 1990 and completing an internship and residency in pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Boston in 1993. Dr. Sguigna spent 10 years working at Children's National Adams Morgan before joining a private practice in north Bethesda. After 17 years, she's happy to be returning to Children's National to practice pediatrics at CNPA Chevy Chase.
Dr. Sguigna's professional interests include early childhood development, asthma and allergies, international adoption and caring for families of multiples. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and was voted a Washingtonian Top Doctor in 2022. She is proficient in Spanish and Italian. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, traveling to Italy and spending time with family and friends.
