Ashley Maxie-Moreman, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in HIV Prevention and Treatment Services at Children’s National Hospital. Dr. Maxie-Moreman specializes in the emotional, behavioral and cognitive aspects of patients’ health, with a particular emphasis on evaluating and treating psychological difficulties among youth living with chronic illness. Dr. Maxie-Moreman works within an interdisciplinary team to provide consultative and therapeutic services in an outpatient setting.
Dr. Maxie-Moreman is committed to training, as she supervises clinical psychology doctoral students on research projects and clinical psychology doctoral student externs, and pre-doctoral interns in an outpatient clinic setting. Dr. Maxie-Moreman also contributes to research focused on the psychological impact of racism among Black and Latinx youth. Additionally, she leads a research project focused on conceptualizing sickle cell disease identity and examining potential links between sickle cell disease identity and treatment decision-making.
