Biography

Hans Pohl, M.D., is the Chief of Urology at Children's National Hospital. He was born in Los Angeles, and moved to Washington, D.C., for medical school. During medical school, Dr. Pohl became interested in surgery, with a particular fascination for reconstructive procedures. He remained at The George Washington University in the Department of Surgery and Urology as a resident.

During his rotation at Children’s National as an urology resident, he found himself particularly drawn to pediatric urology and, more specifically, to understanding how best to treat patients with urinary tract infections and vesicoureteral reflux. Dr. Pohl has experience in treating patients with spina bifida and bladder exstrophy, in addition to the other more common diagnoses, and in using laparoscopy to perform surgery through minimally invasive techniques.
