More Divisions Enable Self-Scheduling Through Patient Portal
The divisions of Allergy, Endocrinology, Genetics and Urology now have the capability for existing patients to self-schedule appointments online through the patient portal. This feature makes it easier and more convenient for patients to schedule appointments with their providers. See the full list of divisions that have this feature enabled. Read more.
Silver Spring Sports Medicine Clinic Opening in March
Pediatric and adolescent student athletes in the region will soon have access to a premier sports medicine program in the heart of Silver Spring, MD. The Fight for Children Sports Medicine Center will offer orthopaedic services and X-ray at its initial opening. Later in the year, the program will expand to include physical therapy and rehabilitation, injury prevention, performance enhancement and the region's first motion analysis and gait lab to conduct in-depth analysis of movement.
Register for the 31st Annual Pediatric Neurology Update Virtual Series
This year's Pediatric Neurology Update, co-sponsored by the Divisions of Neurology and Neurosurgery, will be held virtually this year. The series will be broken up into four sessions held each Friday in March. This year the conference will focus on neuroscience innovations and will feature speakers from Children’s National and other internationally renowned experts. Register now.
COVID-19 Vaccine Given to First Wave of Staff
On December 18, Children's National vaccinated its first frontline worker, Joelle Simpson, M.D., interim chief of the Emergency Department and medical director of Emergency Preparedness. This marked the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout for hospital clinicians and staff. Children's National is also partnering with D.C. Public Schools to vaccinate teachers and staff returning for in-person instruction.
Children's National Receives Third Magnet Designation
For the third time, Children's National has been designated a Magnet® hospital. The Magnet designation is the highest honor for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, and is given to hospitals demonstrating the highest standards in nursing and patient care.
