Cool Runnings: 24th Annual Van Metre 5-Mile Run Raises $225,000+

Sleet and snow couldn’t stop the momentum of the 400 attendees at the 24th annual Van Metre 5-Mile Run on April 9. Despite the spring snowstorm, participants at the event in Ashburn, Va., cheerfully participated in the day’ activities, including opening ceremonies, a post-race celebration, awards, and a variety of door prizes. The run generated more than $225,000 was raised for children and families.

Cerner Corporation Wins Children's Innovation Award

At its annual Children's Ball, Children’s National Health System honored Cerner with the Children’s Innovation Award for the advancement and innovation of pediatric care through the Bear Institute for Health Innovation. Dr. Kurt Newman, president and CEO of Children’s National, presented the award to Cerner President Zane Burke at the April 15 event. “Cerner’s innovations support our ability to help children reach their full potential and provide access to quality health care,” Dr. Newman said. “Cerner’s work is driving quality, safety and financial benefits to our organization while improving outcomes for children and providing a better experience for families.”
