Pediatric Autologous Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program
The Children's National Autologous Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Program provides specialized therapy for children with cancer. In an autologous BMT, your child’s bone marrow
1 is removed, frozen and re-implanted with his or her own stem cells at a later time. Our goal is to restore your child’s health using the most advanced and least invasive treatments possible.
Trusted Transplant Care for Kids
Children’s National is home to one of the country’s most experienced BMT teams, known for pioneering groundbreaking advancements in autologous transplantation for patients with hard-to-treat cancers such as neuroblastoma, Ewing sarcoma and Hodgkin lymphoma.
Since 1988, we have performed more than 500 autologous BMT procedures, making us one of the most experienced programs in the country for children who need this highly specialized treatment.
Innovative Research
Our renowned experts are dedicated to finding new and effective therapies that lead to better outcomes for children, adolescents and young adults receiving bone marrow transplants. This allows us to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to your child’s specific needs.
To develop these plans and therapies, our physicians and researchers are actively engaged in clinical trials. Learn more about our clinical trials to see if your child may be eligible to participate.
