MEET OUR PATIENTS

This holiday season, Jocelyn and her family will celebrate the “double miracle” that Children’s National gave them: two lifesaving surgeries eight years apart to treat Jocelyn’s congenital heart defect. Now she’s back to Girl Scouts and playing lacrosse.

Bear was 3 days old when he arrived at Children’s National with life-threatening viral meningitis. Thanks to our expert neonatal team, Bear is now a thriving toddler who is excited to celebrate the holidays with his three older siblings.

The holidays will be extra special for Naoma and her family. Earlier this year, she received lifesaving care after she was born with a complication that caused her to breathe in dangerous fluid. Naoma is now a smiley, healthy baby.

Paige was diagnosed with leukemia and had multiple surgeries soon after. While in the hospital, she competed in a virtual pageant and earned the title “Tiny Miss District of Columbia Earth USA.” She is home for the holidays and looking forward to baking cookies and playing with her sister.

Grayson was born at just 24 weeks in his family’s truck on the way to the hospital in a blizzard. He weighed less than two pounds. Now 3, Grayson is growing up stronger thanks to our experts in the nation’s top neonatal intensive care unit. He can’t wait to see Santa and play with his new toys.

Chloe spent nearly three weeks in the hospital last fall with a serious illness related to COVID-19. Thanks to the expert care at Children’s National – and cuddles with our facility dog, Barney – Chloe can focus on what she loves: cooking, dancing and singing.

Isabel had to spend much of last holiday season at the hospital battling a rare form of lymphoma. This year, she’s a happy, energetic 4-year-old who has a new bike at the top of her Christmas list.

Last year, Brian was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor when he was 3. He completed numerous rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. He can’t wait to decorate for the holidays with his family this year.
