The Faculty at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive and highest quality training in Pediatric Ophthalmology available anywhere. Building on a rich tradition the current faculty represents extensive and wide-ranging experience in all facets of pediatric ophthalmology.

William P. Madigan, M.D. – Vice-Chief and Fellowship Director

Marijean M. Miller, M.D. – Director for Retinopathy of Prematurity

Kelly A. Hutcheson, M.D. - Director for Academics and Research

Marlet G. Bazemore, M.D.

Jonathan Taylormoore, M.D.

Brian P. Brooks, M.D., Ph.D.

In addition to the standard pediatric ophthalmology clinics, experienced subspecialists from the voluntary faculty will hold monthly clinics in which you will participate in Pediatric Retina, Pediatric Orbit and Oculoplastics and in Genetics (we are fortunate to have one of a handful of Ophthalmologists nationwide who are also Board certified in Genetics- Dr Brian Brooks). The Division is well staffed with support personnel which includes four orthoptists, an ophthalmic technician/medical photographer and a dedicated Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who will insure the complete range of specialized testing, such as OCT, ERG, HVF, and Photography, are available to enhance your education. We operate in the Main Hospital’s operating room as well as Children’s Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). Surgery that you will participate in will include the complete range of strabismus, to include horizontal, vertical and oblique muscles, adjustable suture technique, as well as complex cataract/IOL, glaucoma, orbit and oculoplastics cases. CNMC has a very active NICU and we have a world class ROP program under the leadership of Dr Marijean Miller.
