Research Interests
Madison Berl, PhD, is a licensed pediatric neuropsychologist and faculty member of the Pediatric Neuropsychology Program at Children’s National Medical Center. She is the neuropsychologist for the Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program (CPEP). She is an assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The George Washington University Medical Center. She has an active clinical practice, providing neuropsychological service to children and adolescents with a variety of developmental and acquired neurological disorders. Her research interests include the effects of medical conditions and treatments on neuropsychological functioning in children. Specifically, she is investigating the relationship between working memory and language in children with epilepsy using fMRI. She has also been the coordinator of neuropsychological testing for a multi-site research project of urea cycle disorders. Dr. Berl received her doctorate in clinical psychology from George Mason University. She completed her predoctoral internship at Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a three-year postdoctoral research and clinical fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at Children’s National. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychobiology at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Research Opportunities
Dr. Berl’s lab is committed to training and mentoring students and trainees from various backgrounds including medicine, neuroscience, psychology, biostatistics, and biomedical engineering, at different levels (undergraduate, graduate, medical).
