Research Interests
Maria Acosta, MD, is a principal investigator or co-investigator of several projects in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) at Children’s National Medical Center, specifically focusing on learning disabilities and the developmental effects of NF1. She is conducting a multi-center cooperative study with Kathryn North, MD, at the Westland Children’s Hospital in Australia to identify cognitive deficits in children with NF1. She also researches attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) at the National Institutes for Health--NHGRI.
