Research Interests
Dr. Tang’s research interests are centered on the regulation of gene expression, protein functional interaction, and molecular mechanisms of cell stress and adhesion, as well as the pathogenesis of renal injury. Dr. Tang is focusing on generating several transgenic animal model systems to study the pathogenesis of pediatric renal diseases, and has made important contributions to understanding the pathogenesis of HIV-1 associated nephropathy (HIVAN) using transgenic rats carrying the avian leukovirus receptor TVA. Recently, he has developed a new tumor model of hemangiomas to use as a research tool to test new therapeutics. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles.
