Research Interests
Dr. Pohl is assistant professor of Pediatrics and Urology, director of the research program for the Division of Urology at Children's National Medical Center, and assistant residency program director for the George Washington University Department of Urology. Dr. Pohl completed both his medical school education and residency in Urology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences before spending two years at the National Institutes of Health beginning his training in scientific research at the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. Dr. Pohl's subspecialty training in pediatric urology was completed at Children's Hospital, Boston, before beginning his current position in 2002. Dr. Pohl's research interest in urinary tract infection includes the study of the pathophysiological mechanisms of renal cortical scarring following acute pyelonephritis in children, work that is currently underway in the Center for Genetic Medicine.
