Research Interests
Perry W. Payne, Jr.,
MD conducts research focused on
policy and equity concerns related to the translation of clinical
research into practice and improved community health. He currently acts
as faculty and managing director of
the community engagement/health policy component of the NIH Clinical
and Translational Award
project. Through this project he works with
other faculty to provide: policy consultations to clinical and
translational
researchers, education on the policy and community engagement
implications of research proposals and the implementation of research
projects, fewer barriers to conducting research in
community health centers, and a health policy
workgroup for all medical centers who have been granted an NIH Clinical
