Research Interests

Randi Streisand, PhD, is director of Psychology Research and Services for the diabetes team at Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Streisand came to Children’s National Medical Center as a fellow in 1999 and joined the faculty of the Division of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Pediatrics in 2000. Dr. Streisand earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her PhD from the University of Florida. She completed her predoctoral clinical internship in pediatric psychology at Brown University and a fellowship in pediatric psychosocial oncology research at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Streisand is a clinical psychologist trained in pediatric psychology with specialization in family adjustment to illness, parenting, and adherence to medical regimens. Her program of research is in pediatric diabetes and includes being a principal investigator and co-investigator on several NIH-funded investigations. She has published more than 25 peer reviewed publications and presented over 35 abstracts at national meetings.
