Research Interests
Leticia Manning Ryan, MD, is an attending physician in the Division of Emergency Medicine and a principal investigator in the Center for Clinical and Community Research. Dr. Ryan is also an assistant professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She obtained her medical degree with honors from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and began post-graduate training at Children’s National Medical Center in 1999. After completing pediatric residency, pediatric chief residency, and a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship, Dr. Ryan joined the faculty at Children’s National Medical Center in 2006. Her research interests include injury epidemiology and injury prevention. Dr. Ryan is the recipient of a K23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health National Center for Research Resources to investigate the role of bone health in forearm fractures in African-American children. “Analysis of bone health in African American children with forearm fractures” is a care-control study which evaluates the hypothesis that African-American children with forearm fractures are more likely to have deficient bone health than other fracture-free controls. Dr. Ryan will complete a Master of Public Health degree in the area of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2009.
