Research Interests
Maureen E. Lyon, PhD, ABPP, is a licensed clinical psychologist within the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. She is also associate research professor in Pediatrics at George Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Lyon holds a diploma in Health Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and she is a member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Dr. Lyon’s research interests and efforts focus on the study of adolescence with particular regard to eating disorders, suicide, HIV/AIDS, and supporting adolescents with life-threatening illnesses. Her first published work was a study of parent-offspring conflict (the adolescent in a family of monogamous nonhuman primates) following the birth of a neonate. She has been in practice as a psychologist since 1990. Prior, she was a junior high school teacher. Dr. Lyon is currently principal investigator on an NIH funded study of Family Centered Advance Care Planning.
