Behavioral Medicine

An important part of childhood development is proper eating and sleeping behavior and the acquisition of appropriate social skills. Disorders in these behaviors or in mood/temperament can have wide-ranging effects on family members and the larger community. Irene Chatoor, MD, studies feeding disorders in preschool age children. Jean M. Thomas, MD, studies disruptive behavior disorders in very young children. Daniel S. Lewin, PhD, is investigating the effects of sleep deprivation on sleep patterns in children. Paramjit T. Joshi, MD, and Adelaide S. Robb, MD, lead studies on bipolar disorder, while Dr. Robb leads additional psychopharmacology trials on mood, thought and cognition disorders.
