Youth Violence Research

Investigators at the Center for Clinical and Community Research are studying ways to prevent youth violence and prepare health professionals as effective intentional injury interventionists. The investigators are part of a team of clinical and behavioral scientists from throughout the region including the NIH and Baltimore-Washington corridor. They advance the healthcare community’s knowledge about risk, resilience, retaliation, and the role of acute care settings in youth violence prevention. The investigators also have leveraged this body of research activity to advance policy and practice at the professional organizational level, and to influence legislative advocacy through the Maryland House of Delegates, such as passage of HB 199 – Bullying, Harassment and Intimidation: Policy and Disciplinary Standards.
