Perkin Elmer Victor3 V Plate Reader
The Perkin Elmer Victor3 V plate reader is a third generation Wallac-built plate reader from Perkin Elmer. This "V" model incorporates 5 different optical detection technologies and includes an adjustable shaker, temperature controller, and two reagent injector pumps. The optical detection modes are photometry (UV-Vis absorbance), luminometry, fluorescence intensity, time-resolved fluorescence, and fluorescence polarization. Some examples of the types of assays that can be done using these detection modes are: Photometric Assays; Luminometric Assays; Fluorimetric Assays: Time-Resolved Fluorescence Assays; and Fluorescence Polarization Assays.

Li-Cor Odyssey Infrared Imaging System
Traditional Western blot analysis is time-sensitive with respect to membrane exposure to the substrate. This makes quantification and reproducibility with chemiluminescence a problem. The Li-Cor Odyssey Infrared Imaging System overcomes these problems by eliminating the need for a substrate. The Odyssey system makes use of an infrared detection method which effectively eliminates background fluorescence, resulting in clear, sharp bands. Strong and weak bands on the same blot are accurately measured, since the direct infrared detection allows for a wider linear range. Bands that are hidden in overexposed areas with chemiluminescence suddenly become clear when imaged with the Odyssey System. The scans are saved to a 90-gigabyte internal hard drive and can be accessed via the computer that comes with the system or through a password protected internet IP. Although the Odyssey’s main selling feature is the use in western blot analysis, it is also used for In-cell westerns, two color EMSA, two color Westerns, two color in-gel westerns, two color northern blots, protein phosphorylation, protein gel documentation, 2D-gel documentation and in some instances Southern blot analysis.

  • In Anesthetized Rodent Models: The Cardiomax-II Thermodilution Cardiac Output Computer doubles as a physiological data acquisition system. The new thermodilution cardiac computer interfaces directly to a desktop or laptop computer via a very fast RS-232 link. It is intended to be used on a variety of lab animals. In addition to measuring cardiac output and associated parameters (SV, HR), the Cardiomax-II can be used to measure, display, and log ECG (EKG) with its own low level amplifier and two (2) blood pressures (DP, MP, SP, dp/dt). Storage of all parameter data is provided in c*.CSV format for easy import into a variety of analysis programs. The thermo-dilution curve image can also be saved. The Cardiomax-II can use a variety of thermistor catheters as well as Columbus Instruments' thermocouple microprobes. The Cardiomax-II's special design makes it resistant to external radio signal interference.
  • In Conscious Rodent Models: A small implantable DSI PhysioTel® transmitter that senses, processes and transmits information via telemetry from within an animal of any size — mouse, small animal or large animal. The DSI transmitters are designed for monitoring and collecting data from conscious, freely moving laboratory animals and are available in a variety of sizes to accommodate species and cage size requirements. Animals are maintained in a dedicated room and data is continuously collected and recorded by a dedicated computer running the configuration data acquisition program, Dataquest.
