Youth Violence
The Center for Health Services and Community Research has been the home for a productive group of clinical investigators focused on injury prevention, specifically youth violence. Established as an interdivisional collaboration between pediatric emergency physician, Joseph L. Wright, MD, MPH, and general academic pediatrician, Tina Cheng, MD, MPH the group has evolved to include a regional team of clinical and behavioral scientists. During the past several years, the team has generated more than a dozen publications and advanced knowledge about the attitudes, precursors, risk and resilience factors, and outcomes associated with intentional injury in children. Analysis of a recently concluded randomized intervention trial is currently ongoing.
