Provider Patient Communication
Ivor Braden Horn, MD, MPH, of the Center for Health Services and Community Research, focuses her work on the relationship between patient provider communication and health disparities while examining the heterogeneity within racial/ethnic groups. Her current research focuses on the impact of socio-economic status on African American parents’ perceptions of provider communication style in the pediatric primary care setting and trust in their child’s provider. Future work will seek to determine the influence on provider’s communication style on African American parents’ discussions of culturally sensitive topics (such as discipline) during pediatric visits.
