Crib Death (SIDS)
Led by Rachel Y. Moon, MD, the Center for Health Services and Community Research has an important focus on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in high-risk populations. Areas of interest include the epidemiology of SIDS, SIDS risk factors in child care populations and the development of educational interventions with child care providers and minority populations. Future research plans include investigation of factors contributing to the racial disparity seen in SIDS. Dr. Moon is a member of the AAP Task Force on SIDS, which published a new policy statement, with recommendations for reducing the risk of SIDS, in 2005.
