  Visiting Guidelines
Reposted October 12, 2009

Children’s National Medical Center is taking additional precautions during this time of increased flu activity to ensure the safest environment for our patients.

The following visiting guidelines are effective until further notice:

  • Only parents, guardians, or designated caregivers may visit patients.
  • No children are permitted to visit, including siblings.
  • If parents or guardians have been sick with a fever along with a cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, or muscle aches in the last 7 days, please do not visit. If parents must come to the hospital, they will be required to wear a mask at all times.

If you are concerned about flu, please visit our flu resource center for the latest information on when to seek care.

Tours
Until further notice, all hospital tours have been suspended. While we value the support we receive from the community, our first priority is the safety and well being of our patients and staff, and at this time, limiting the number of outside visitors is necessary.

For patients having surgery, our Pre-Surgical Tours on Sunday afternoon have also been suspended. We encourage families to watch our online tour to familiarize yourself and your child with what to expect. We know that a child’s operation can be a stressful time for families. Our Child Life Specialists are available to answer any questions you may have. Our specialists have also put together some resources to prepare for the upcoming surgery.  For more information or for specific questions, contact the Child Life Department.

Thank you for helping us provide the safest environment for our patients, families, and employees.
