Children’s National Transport Coordinator Receives Aviation Safety Award June 27, 2008
For Immediate Release: June 27, 2008
Washington, DC—Jonathan Godfrey, Transport Coordinator in the Division of Transport Medicine, is the recipient of the 2008 Jim Charlson Award, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the overall enhancement, development, or promotion of aviation and aviation safety within the air medical transport community.
Godfrey was the sole survivor of an air medical helicopter crash three years ago on the Potomac River. Since the crash, Jonathan has dedicated much of his time and energy to “raise awareness in the areas of safety and survivability.”
Jonathan Godfrey serves as the transport management’s liaison to the Safety Committee at Children’s National Medical Center and has been instrumental in implementing a READI checklist, which is a checklist of safety items that the transport team verifies prior to departing Children’s National and then again upon leaving the referring facility to ensure patient safety.
